I doubt those are the kind of Tablets people reading Craig's blog are looking for.

This isn't the first time context sensitive ads have caused mayhem and controversy.

Ernst & Young's Happy Day

Ersnt & Young isn't just an accounting firm turned consulting agency, apparently the company is filled with hipsters working their way into the music industry.

Seriously.

E&Y's debut into the world of music video is a remix of "Oh Happy Day," where "Ernsy & Young showed me a better way."

As it turns out, E&Y's not the only company with a theme song.

Reminds me of the DJ Steve Ballmer Soundboard.

A Scary Halloween Decoration

Yahoo News Photos has a story about a Halloween decoration so scary, the police were called in to investigate.

The display featured what looked like a plane crash on someone's front lawn and was so realistic, the LAPD visited the home to investigate a possible plane crash.

The home owner, who works as an airplane mechanic and decided to take some work home with him to create the scene.

Now that's morbid.

Professor's Pug Threatened by a Thug

A professor at VCU's Adcenter, a graduate level advertising school, had a creative class assignment to teach marketing and promotion: make his pet Pug Oscar famous.

The plan backfired, when someone threatened to kill the dog on a MySpace web page.

The posting got the attention of animal rights activists, the local police, and the media.

The Richmond police then sent out a media alert with the following:

"this threat is the result of a VCU student's assignment that went awry. We want to stress that at no time was any animal in danger."

The student has not been identified yet and, given the layer of anonomity the internet provides, may never be determined.

Ironically, Oscar's name is circulating through the media and blogosphere, giving him a certain amount of fame.

However, Rick Boyko, the head of the Adcenter, has no sympathy said "Whoever did it got an 'F.'"

MySpace Murder Plot

The internet, it's said, is a mirror of the real world, both good and bad.

MySpace is one bad neighborhood.

Just when you thought that things at social networking/blogging site MySpace couldn't get any sleazier, they did.

A 22-year-old Arizona woman was arrested after police say she tried to place a hit on a woman whose picture appeared on her boyfriend's MySpace web site.

The woman used the photo from her boyfriend's blog to show would be hitman what the target looked like.

She also allegedly demanded a photo of the woman's corpse after she was killed.

Fortunately, the would be hitman was an undercover detective and the woman was promptly arrested.

Creepy Scarves for Geeks & Gadget Junkies

Sure, you know about all the fine geek-themed clothing options available at ThinkGeek, but for those in the geek set who find the outside world disruptive to their online habits, Joe Malia has designed clothing just for them.

Mobility is great, but if you're this addicted to your mobile device, then you really ought to seek out help.

Is it me or these pictures look more like scenes from dystopian sci fi stories.

I find the picture on the right especially disturbing.

If you need that much privacy on your desktop computer, move it to another room or turn the monitor in another direction.

The other two pictures look like medieval torture devices.

Barry Manilow Keeps Hooligans Away

Reuters reports that Barry Manilow is being used to keep rowdy teenagers away from loitering in certain parking lots in Australia.

From the article:

Officials in one Sydney district have decided to pipe the American crooner's music over loudspeakers in an attempt to rid streets and car parks of hooligans whose anti-social cars and loud music annoy residents and drive customers from businesses.

Following a successful experiment where Bing Crosby music was used to drive teenage loiterers out of an Australian shopping center several years ago, Rockdale councilors believe Manilow is so uncool it might just work.

The only question is what kind of crowd does Barry Manilow attract?
