Homer Simpson Inspired Graffiti?

One of the best things about having a camera phone is taking pictures of things might otherwise go unnoticed.

Here's a bit of graffiti behind an Italian restaurant in Fairfax, VA that shows Homer Simpson's catch phrase has built up some street cred.

There is a chance that this means something completely different and, right now, those down with the lingo are laughing.

Sunday Night Silliness: Return of the Crazy Frog

The Crazy Frog returns in the EuroPop/Techno remix of Queen's “We are the champions.”

The soccer themed music video and song was made, no doubt, for the World Cup earlier this year.

It's been a while since I blogged about the Crazy Frog, but every time I post about the mentally unstable amphibian, I get a lot of traffic.

In fact, one day in May, I made two posts: one was an outpouring of my soul opining on a topic of the day; the other was about the Crazy Frog.

The Crazy Frog post got *a lot* more traffic.

The pen may be mightier than the sword; but a meme trumps everything else.

What's really cool about the video is that it's a Machima production using World of Warcraft characters.

The music video is all about the age old debate about what the Internet was originally designed for.

The song does contain some mildly offensive language that the squeamish may object to. You have been warned.

Here's a family friendly alternative blues song from a ginerbread man.

There's a lot of potential in Machima.

Seriously, though, when I lived in Germany, Tom Jones was much more popular at the time than David Hasselhof, depsite his claim that he helped bring down the Berlin Wall.

Although, this was sent to me by a German, so maybe there is something to the stereotype. ;)

The tune is so catchy that it will definitely stick in your head.

And what's an action flick without Samuel L. Jackson? Look for his cameo.

MIT Students take on the most treasured fashion trend amongst the conspiracy theory crowd: the Tin Foil Hat.

From the report:

Using a $250,000 network analyser, we find that although on average all helmets attenuate invasive radio frequencies in either directions [...], certain frequencies are in fact greatly amplified. These amplified frequencies coincide with radio bands reserved for government use according to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). Statistical evidence suggests the use of helmets may in fact enhance the government's invasive abilities. We speculate that the government may in fact have started the helmet craze for this reason.

You have to wonder how hard it is to look serious with tin foil on your head, yet the site insists this was a serious experiment..

Sunday Night Silliness: This Forehead for Rent

CNET has a story about a bizzare new trend in marketing: leasing your body out to advertisers.

The company would pay up to $5000 for a forehead placement on attractive individuals. Although the first test subject was only paid $200 to sport a temporary tattoo on her face.

Advertising execs are (thankfully) skeptical about this new idea:

"It's just another marketing vehicle," Balter said. "The first of everything will get people to talk. After that, there is no PR value and no one will care. Putting tattoos of logos on your body is just using a different placement for your advertising. It's novel, but that will wear off."

Just when I think I've seen it all.
