Given that I'm getting married later this month, the wedding.exe process is taking up more and more of my mental CPU.

It's quite amazing how much time (and money) organizing and executing a wedding can consume.

Here are some interesting statistics on the Wedding Industry:

The average budget for a wedding is estimated to be $20,000.
about $40 BILLION is spent on weddings every year in the U.S.
There are a few people around who believe this number is as high as $70 BILLION a year.

Think it's about romance?

Think again.

It's actually all about the Benjamins.

Happy Blogday to Me

Four years ago today, I set up .TEXT on Frank's World and starting blogging regularly.

I had a blog previously on BlogSpot since 2001, but I wasn't good at maintaining that one.

Now, four years later and 2195 posts later (an average of 548.75 posts a year or 1.5 posts a day), I'd say I do a pretty good job of posting regularly.

Sadly, I'm still running the same version of .TEXT (plus a few hacks I added over the years) since 2004.

Needless to say, one of my personal goals for this year, is to upgrade to a more modern blogging platform.

An Inconvenient Tooth

One of my remaining wisdom teeth has decided to cause me trouble and I've been in agony for the past 48 hours.

They seem to cause trouble every five years.

I think this time around I'm going to get them all pulled out to avoid a crisis in 2013.

Props to Alex Barnett for coming up with the catchy blog post title, when he had his own issues with a wisdom tooth.

Birthday Fun!

Today's my birthday and my fiancee got me two XBox 360 Games: The Orange Box and Halo 3.

She actually gave me the games the other night and I'm totally hooked on Portal. She's very good to me. :)

Tonight, we're headed out to a Korean BBQ restaurant to celebrate.

Don't worry, I'll make sure no one will sing Happy Birthday to me without first checking if they are going to pay royalties for using the song. (even if they sing it in Korean)

I'm touched that even Facebook remembered. ;)

Blogging Hiatus

I've always liked the time just before Thanksgiving.

The weather is "just right:" not warm and not too cold. The trees are beautiful: orange, yellow and red.

I'm taking a much deserved vacation this week in the Outer Banks and that probably means a blogging hiatus (to borrow a phrase from Tim Heuer).

When I get back, the holiday madness begins. Once the holidays are over, wedding planning will kick into high-gear, then the wedding.

So, looking at the calendar reminds me of seeing a sign on the highway that reads "Next Rest Stop: 100 miles."

I better make this one count. :)
