Sprint Fail

All I wanted to do was send a text message to my mom, who is a Sprint customer, since my phone battery died.

Sprint wants you to log in to their web site in order to help prevent spammers from sending out messages.

That’s understandable.

I had forgotten my password and when I finally got the “reset password” email complete with link: I was treated to this:

Fortunately, there’s more than one way to send a text message from your computer.

I used to actually like Nextel, but since the Sprint merger, not so much.

But while scanning for WiFi signals at the Portland Jetport, I noticed a peculiarly named network that added a new twist on this nautical history.

I recently saw an odd description on the "Expression Design Step by Step" book.

It's a good read, but please don't microwave this book and be sure to only wash it by hand, not in a dishwasher.

Web 2.0 Advertising Fail

Advertisers saw the potential to create a new approach by merging "word of mouth" advertising and technology in the world of social networking.

The idea was that if friend x or friend y had like a product/service then you'd be more likely to pay attention to that than an obnoxious Flash ad.

Sometimes, though, this approach can backfire.

When the holiday season is over and we all make New Year's Resolutions to lose weight.

Here's an added incentive to exercise daily in case you needed one I saw at a local retailer.

I don't know what that means and I don't want to find out.

I saw this on the Zune Marketplace, which is usually a source of frustration rather than humor.

How's this for irony?

I'm not happy about the new XM/Sirius channel line up, but I do fondly remember the ''90s.

Looks like they got a little eager with their escape sequences.

I'm a big fan of WorldMap, Brian Hitney's way cool geo-coding map generating web service.

I don't know exactly when he started it or when I signed up, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't that long ago.

I'm also impressed with the amount of traffic my site's been generating, despite my week long hiatus from blogging.
